High Dose Lipitor Reduces Stroke in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease

Wednesday November 15, 2006
A new analysis of patients with chronic kidney disease, taken from a larger study of patients with heart disease, was recently presented at an American Heart Association meeting. The study found that a higher dose of Lipitor, 80 milligrams versus the standard 10 milligram dose, decreased the incidence of heart attack and stroke by 32% in patients with chronic kidney disease. Patients with chronic kidney disease are more likely to die from a heart attack or stroke than from kidney failure.
