Healthcare Concerns top Recent Survey

Monday June 25, 2007
A new poll conducted by health research firm Kaiser Health Tracking, shows that "health care is the leading domestic issue," in the public mind.  The survey was conducted to gauge opinion on what are likely to be important issues in the upcoming presidential election, and reveals some striking statistics about how the average American feels about health care in the United States.

While "almost all" respondents reported that they were satisfied with the quality of their health care, many people are concerned about the availability of health care, and more than twenty percent of those questioned identified health care improvements as the single most important issue they would like to hear discussed on the political stage.  Four out of ten people said they want to hear discussion about coverage shortages and improving access for the uninsured, and three out of ten said health care costs were their primary concern.

Several political candidates have revealed outlines of their plans to deliver health insurance to all Americans regardless of income.  Studies have shown that ready access to health care and preventative medicine is one of the strongest factors influencing overall health and lifespan.
