(1) DK says:

It seems every stroke is a little different – understandable to a victim, but many physicians seem to think of strokes’effects as similar/same. Few seem to have a broad understanding, so each (– primary physician, cardiologist, neurologist, psychiatrist, etc. –) sees only their part of the elephant; and even fewer realize how frequently the patient’s dynamics can change.

My stroke occured in my mid-40’s. As a result I am no longer working. The day to day contact with my colleagues and the life I used to live is now gone. Friendships have been altered and I feel completely isolated.

Dear AM. I am so sorry to hear that your life has been so difficult after your stroke. Most local communities have at least one stroke support group. Is there anything I can do to try and help you find one? Stroke groups are a wonderful resource and a great way to reactivate your new life as a stroke survivor. Please let me know. Best wishes.

At age 68, just returning from vacation, I felt well & physicaly strong, then the stroke happened; followed by 6+ weeks hospital. Am home alone now, difficult to get about, feeling somewhat stranded and isolated, but determined to get better. Thanks for your newsletter and comments

i’m 30 yrs old and for the past few days, i’ve been in the emergency room, being treated for passing out and not being responsive. the first visit, the dr. narrowed it down 2 me basically being stressed out, todays visit, were more intense, cause there was a CAT scan done and it showed i had white matter on my brain. clearly i have no idea what all that means, and very concern cause i am a mother of 2 small children, that has found me passed out, and a husband that is as clueless as me. i need to know, what to expect now.
