Brain Cavernous Malformations and Stroke

Hemorrhagic strokes usually occur in the setting of uncontrolled high blood pressure. However, in some instances, they are caused by congenital vascular problems in the brain such as AVMs, or cavernous malformations. The latter are nests of blood vessels in the brain which lie passively inside the tissue.
