Answer: Bleeding inside the brain that is caused by the rupture of a blood vessel that travels over the surface of the brain, inside the subarachnoid space. The subarachnoid space is located between two layers of meninges, which cover the brain. Typically, subarachnoid hemorrhages are the result of a ruptured aneurysm.
