Definition: A devise implanted inside the skull, just above the brain, or into one of the brain's ventricles in order to monitor second by second changes in intracranial pressure, or ICP.

ICP monitors are critical for the appropriate treatment of major strokes and other injuries of the brain in which increased ICP can lead to further brain damage, or brain herniation, a condition which is often fatal.
