Question: What is a cerebral angiogram?
Answer: A test that uses X-rays and a contrast dye in order to visualize the blood vessels of the brain. The contrast dye can be injected directly inside any of the major arteries that carry blood to the brain, but it is most commonly injected into the carotid artery. The X-rays detect the contrast dye as it flows upwards towards the brain, revealing the shape, size and degree of narrowing or blockage of blood vessels in the neck and brain.
